Veterans from the Eastern CT Veterans Community Center are organizing a clean up day in the Willimantic Cemetery to prepare for Memorial Day. Volunteers will be cleaning up trash, removing old decorations and flowers, picking up sticks and cleaning dirt and overgrown grass from flat stones of military personnel. Our goal is to make the cemetery attractive but more importantly to honor American veterans by making sure their military stones can be seen. Our historian, Bev York will give a short presentation. She will talk about veterans, how they are honored and what Memorial Day is all about. She will also discuss how young people can help protect our environment, how every little bit helps and she will give suggestions on how they can continue to save the Earth at home with their families and friends. Gloves, pizza and soda will be provided as supplies last. Hosted by Eastern CT Veterans Community Center.
